But the way to be a successful businessman was not at all easy. First of all he was from a village where, there weren’t enough opportunities to get a good quality education. But as a young boy he was not disappointed of the situation. He thought hard and made himself a way. To get better education and to learn lifestyle of a city, he moved to Bombay (now Mumbai) to finish his high school, by staying at his uncle’s place. And after finishing matriculation examination he started his engineering education in Morbi (in Gujarat) and finally established himself as a successful businessman in Ahmedabad. And all these he achieved due to his highly focused & sincere efforts and extreme hard work. And at the same time he got a wonderful support from my grand parents in fulfilling his dreams.

And today, he also gives me and my brother freedom to achieve our goals. He lets us to do whatever we want and stays always there to cheer us up. At the same time he tells us to be focused, hard working, and sincere in our efforts.

I am proud of you Dad to teach me these important lessons and being my source of inspiration. And I really thank you for giving me all the wonderful opportunities and being supportive to me. I love you Dad.

100 HOURS OF ASTRONOMY (In the memory of Galileo)

The year 2009 is celebrated as the International Year of Astronomy to honor 400 years of the first recorded astronomical observation through a telescope by Galileo Galilei. Astronomical observatories and planetariums throughout the world organized an event called "100 Hours of Astronomy" from April 2 through 5, 2009 to celebrate it. I also got a chance to look at Saturn and its rings, the Lunar (Moon), the Orion Nebula (birthplace of stars) and the Sun at UT Arlington Planetarium. It was really a wonderful experience.

The whole event reminds me about my passion for astronomy and my dream to be an astronomer. I still remember my trips to the PRL (Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad) observatory and Vedhshala (it is planetarium in Ahmedabad) to learn more about celestial objects and their functioning. I became interested in the study of the universe around 1996-97, when NASA launched Mars Pathfinder and subsequent launches of INSAT and IRS satellites by ISRO. I went to study physics to realize my dream to be an astronomer. But somehow I lost that spirit and inspiration during my graduate studies at MSU, Baroda.

Today, when I look back, I really feel proud for Galileo who fought against the ruling power of his times for truth and science, and enlightened the mankind with his observation about the motions of the celestial bodies. I also feel lucky to be born in Ahmedabad which is also the birhtplace of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai (India's Father for Space Technology and an eminent visionary) who established PRL and ISRO-SAC in Ahmedabad to encourage business minded gujarati people towards science and technology. Today mankind is at the forefront of technological advances. We use cellular communications, wi-fi based broadband internet, satellite television, GPS and a lot more other technologies in our daily life, which are results of theoretical and practical observations of scientist, engineers and philosophers such as Galileo in their respective fields of expertise. As an engineer and physicist, I feel that we all should start thinking in innovative ways and try, out of the box solutions to deliver technological advances of today and tomorrow to a broader population across the globe and in that way we will truly respect Galileo's effort to uncover hidden truths of the universe.

Kick start...

Hi folks,

My name is Ankit Doshi. Let me introduce my self and motive of this blog. I am an electrical engineer, seeking a full-time position in high tech industry (specifically Chip Designing) which need expertise in designing and analyzing digital, analog and RF circuits for computers, laptops, cellphones, GPS (Global Positioning Systems), televisions and all other stuffs which work on electricity. I always wanted to keep a blog which communicates about my self, my interesting activities, my thoughts, and most importantly about various source of inspiration. But somehow I always kept on delaying it. But now I am pretty much determined to have a kick start.

AFFLATUS - the name of this blog means inspiration and also diving communication of knowledge. The inspiration behind the start of this blog is global recession. I graduated from University of Texas located in Arlington, Texas in August 2008. Ever since then I am looking for a job. During these days, I do keep refreshing the electrical engineering fundamentals and learn about recent development in the field. But more or less I am pretty much free. As I am constantly looking to have great source of inspirations during these tough economic times, I decided to share whatever inspiration and knowledge I gain through various sources. Apart from these I can post on various new ways our life is being changed due to progress in technology and human thinking.

So, Please come back and visit my blog regularly and post your valuable comments. And also a very warm thanks to Google for giving me an opportunity to communicate with my friends and well-wishers through this new and innovative channel. I must admit that I am a very big fan of Google and use a whole bunch of fantastic Google products in my every day life.

Thanks,

Ankit G Doshi.
